Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) invites energetic Electrical Engineering students to join the Spacecraft Power Engineering group as co-op/interns in Laurel, MD. You will analyze, test, and help deliver analog power electronics for spaceflight applications, contributing to missions like Dragonfly.

This internship emphasizes hands-on learning with mentors guiding you to design, test hardware, run simulations, and broaden analysis skills while meeting a 6–12 month term.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related technical field).
  • GPA minimum of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Available for a 6-month (minimum) term in Laurel, MD.
  • Familiar with analog electrical circuit components and concepts.
  • Prior employment or team-project experience in core competency areas: DC/DC and AC/DC Power Conversion; DC Power Distribution; Battery Packs; Solar Arrays; Power Systems; Power Circuit or System Test.
  • Familiar with basic laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies).
  • U.S. citizenship status is required to access APL facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, test, and deliver analog power electronics.
  • Work with full-time staff to learn design and test of electronic hardware.
  • Develop analysis and simulation skills.
