Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) invites a co-op in Reliability & Configuration Engineering to work with the EAMS team on Python/TypeScript projects, dashboards, and data workflows.

You will collaborate with staff and consultants, attend virtual or in-person meetings, and contribute to documentation, testing, and automated validations while gaining hands-on experience in MBTA facilities and systems.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate/Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Average knowledge of Agile software development practices.
• Above average skills in Python development and familiarity with Python ecosystem (Pytest, Pylint / Flake8 / Black, Pip / Pipenv).
• Above average proficiency with web development (React; Progressive Web Apps).
• Average proficiency with XML/XSL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript.
• Average Windows software development experience.
• At least one year of experience with written reports and time estimates for upper management and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to commute to Greater Boston as required.

Responsabilités

• Assist with existing software development projects (Python/TypeScript)
• Greenfield development of automated processes and web apps for desktop/mobile in the field
• Develop and implement automated reporting and dashboards via Splunk/Tableau
• Document API behaviors following OpenAPI standards
• Configure unit-testing solutions and automated validations (Windows CLI, Python, GitHub Actions)
• Assist with project coordination, meetings, and reporting
• Participate in agile practices and team meetings
• Provide courteous, professional service to internal/external customers
• Perform other duties as assigned
