Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

We are currently recruiting for an internship located at our office in Wilton, Connecticut.

Role and responsibilities

As a Mechanical Design Engineer Intern your responsibilities include:

  • Participating in developing portions of the lithography system and/or associated tooling.
  • Work on sub-systems involving robotics, mechatronics, precision mechanics, and/or opto-mechanics.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and system architects in a multidiscipline project team to develop concepts, perform engineering analysis, build and test prototypes, generate detailed CAD designs, create engineering drawings, partner with suppliers, and support system integration and testing.

Education and experience
  • Pursuing Bachelor's, Master's, PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 2 years completed (Must be a current student and pursuing a degree).
  • Pursuing a graduate level degree a plus.
  • Project experience that includes mechanical design with mechatronics, precision design or complex optical systems.
  • Good complex mechanical system intuition.
  • Exposure to kinematics, dynamics, material properties and behavior and/or structural analysis.

Skills
  • Can learn and apply new information or skills.
  • Experience with 3D solid modelling for design conceptualization and realization.
  • Basic experience with mechanical analytical techniques, including "first principle" engineering equations and Finite Element Analysis such as stress, strain, deformation, modal response, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to derive conclusions from analysis and make practical recommendations.
  • Have ability to communicate effectively both written and oral.
  • High energy self-motivated team player with strong desire to learn.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction through prioritization, quality, efficiency and professionalism.
  • Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workloads.

Other information
  • This position is located on-site in Wilton, Connecticut. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.

  • Working around lasers; working with ladders; working on platforms; and working around chemicals.
  • The employee is occasionally required to move around the campus.

  • May require travel dependent on company needs.
