Job description

Position Summary

The student will be exposed to the engineering design process by being given assignments of increasing scope and responsibility over the course of his/her coop career at Fives Machining Systems, Inc (FMSI).

Job Responsibilities

• Design and analysis of machine tool products, with follow-up during assembly and unit/prototype testing in lab environments or the production shop floor.
• Depending on the specific engineering discipline, the student will acquire skills in the following:
  • Understanding design input requirements
  • Analysis of design, for both subsystem and system level products
  • Drafting practices and standards, 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation
  • Creation of Bill of Material Release Authority, Design verification/validation testing
  • Interfacing with the Controls Electrical engineering teams
  • Participating on cross functional project team

The student will also be exposed

• Failure modes and effects analysis
• Hazard analysis

This FMSI co‑op position is for the Fives Cincinnati facility. The facility is located at 2200 Litton Lane, Hebron KY, within 5 minutes of the Greater Cincinnati Airport, CVG.
