Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking a Co-op CNC Lathe Operator to support the production of precision components while developing foundational CNC machining skills. This developmental role provides hands-on exposure to turning operations, blueprint reading, metrology, and safety practices in an ultra-precision environment.

Under supervision, you will assist with setup, operation, inspection, material handling, and continuous improvement as you gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Precision Machining, or related program.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work safely in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the setup and operation of CNC lathe equipment utilizing approved programs and work instructions.
• Load and unload raw materials and completed components.
• Monitor machine operations and report quality, tooling, or machine concerns.
• Perform basic dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, thread gauges.
• Read and interpret basic engineering drawings and manufacturing routings.
• Assist with part cleaning, deburring, sanding, bead blasting, and finishing operations.
• Support material preparation activities using saws and secondary equipment.
• Accurately document inspection and production information.
• Utilize Visual ERP or equivalent systems for labor reporting and job tracking.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and manufacturing process reviews.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
• Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE, LOTO awareness, hazard communication, and machine guarding procedures.
• Work collaboratively with machinists, manufacturing engineers, quality personnel, and supervisors.
