Job summary

Ag Leader Technologies is seeking a motivated Ag/Mechanical Design/Test Intern to join the Mechanical Design Engineering team in Ames, IA. This co-op role supports concept-to-production work, CAD drafting, and cross-functional collaboration across engineering staff.

Ideal candidates are Junior/Senior studying Ag & Life Sciences, Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering, with strong problem-solving and communication skills and a willingness to learn across tools and languages.

Qualifications

  • Junior or Senior status; major in Ag & Life Sciences, Agricultural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong desire for continuous learning.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Agricultural background is a plus.
  • Analytical and creative thinking focused on customer value.

Responsibilities

  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Creates and develops parts to adapt products to existing agricultural equipment.
  • Designs mechanical interfaces for sensing, measuring, and recording products.
  • Designs parts and makes production drawings using CAD and drafting techniques.
  • Troubleshoots electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems with curiosity when issues arise.
  • Develops and evaluates field and/or lab tests to ensure products meet customer expectations.
