Job summary

A community-based behavioral health organization in Maryland is seeking a licensed Co-Occurring Disorder Counselor. This role can be fulfilled as a W-2 employee or a 1099 independent contractor. Conduct assessments and provide individual and group counseling for clients coping with mental health and substance use disorders. A strong understanding of trauma-informed care is essential. The position requires approximately 40 hours of work per week. A supportive benefits package is offered for W-2 employees.

Qualifications

• At least 1–2 years experience working with dual diagnosis or high-acuity populations.
• Must pass background and reference checks.
• Familiarity with Medicaid documentation, CARF standards, and trauma-informed care required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions for clients with co-occurring disorders.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with CARF, Medicaid, and COMAR standards.
• Deliver evidence-based substance abuse disorder focused treatment services.

Skills

Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LCADC)

Strong understanding of mental health and substance use diagnoses

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Team-oriented and able to prioritize

Experience with dual diagnosis or high-acuity populations

Education

Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field
