About Us

WeVote is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup and a celebrated Fast Forward nonprofit technology grantee. We are a movement of over 140 passionate volunteers building open-source mobile technologies to mobilize voters on Election Day. WeVote Executive Director, Job Definition

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Co-Executive Director will oversee programs, fundraising, expansion, and mission execution. Operational responsibilities will be shared with senior leaders. The role requires deep knowledge of the field, programs, operations, and business plans.

We are considering distributing development duties among multiple individuals to focus on areas like large donors, foundations, or small donors. Flexibility and teamwork are key.

This is a volunteer role, requiring approximately 20 hours per week, mostly during work hours.

Leadership & Management:
  • Ensure program excellence, evaluation, and quality across finance, administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources to meet strategic goals.
  • Engage and energize board members, partner organizations, and funders.
  • Develop and support a strong Board of Directors, involving them in strategic planning.
  • Lead and develop a high-performance senior management team. Track progress and evaluate programs regularly, using tools like Objectives and Key Results, to communicate successes to stakeholders.
Fundraising & Communications:
  • Expand fundraising activities supporting current operations, estimated at $50K - $100K annually. Leverage support from the Fast Forward network.
  • Build relationships to pursue new funding opportunities from foundations, individual donors, grants, and small donors. Help build the organization’s fundraising capacity and enjoy the process.
  • Potential for seeking nonpartisan grants for regional down-ballot engagement.
Qualifications
  • Deep commitment to WeVote's mission. Proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management skills. At least 10 years of senior management experience, with a track record of scaling organizations and developing strategies for growth.
  • Strong focus on quality programs and data-driven evaluation.
  • Excellent organizational management skills, including coaching staff, managing budgets, and setting strategic objectives.
  • Experience working with stakeholders and cultivating board relationships.
  • Strong marketing, PR, and fundraising skills, capable of engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, persuasive and passionate, with good interpersonal skills.
  • Entrepreneurial, adaptable, innovative, and collaborative.
