Job summary

Research Innovations, Inc. is seeking a Security Researcher to join our Cyber security team in San Antonio, TX. You'll work on offense-grade software and build capabilities across userland, kernel, and networks.

The role requires strong C and Python coding, experience with CNO or exploit development, embedded/firmware work, and familiarity with Windows and UNIX environments. Active Top Secret/SCI clearance is required or ability to upgrade; travel may be required; we offer a mission-driven

Qualifications

• Must have strong C and Python programming skills.
• Experience developing CNO or exploit capabilities.
• Embedded or firmware development on resource-constrained systems.
• Experience with Windows and UNIX environments (Visual Studio/.NET or make-based builds).
• Familiarity with version control tools (Git, Subversion, or CVS) and CI/CD tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Building offense-grade software that operates in denied, constrained, and adversarial environments
• Designing, implementing, and debugging custom CNO capabilities across userland, kernel, and network layers
• Tearing down, modernizing, and re-engineering legacy and acquired tooling for performance, stealth, and maintainability
• Developing software that runs where defenders don’t want it (Windows, Linux/Unix, embedded, mobile, and network devices)
• Performing deep binary analysis and reverse engineering across architectures and calling conventions
• Owning and evolving reproducible build systems, toolchains, and test harnesses
• Working close to the metal: compilers, loaders, memory, execution flow, and runtime behavior
• Traveling as determined by the customer

This position requires an Active US Top Secret security clearance, and the ability to upgrade to TS/SCI Special Access Program access

• Building offense-grade software that operates in denied, constrained, and adversarial environments
• Designing, implementing, and debugging custom CNO capabilities across userland, kernel, and network layers
• Tearing down, modernizing, and re-engineering legacy and acquired tooling for performance, stealth, and maintainability
• Developing software that runs where defenders don’t want it (Windows, Linux/Unix, embedded, mobile, and network devices)

• Experience programming in C and Python
• Experience developing CNO or exploit capabilities
• Embedded or firmware development experience on resource-constrained systems
• Experience developing in one (1) or more of the following:
• Windows applications using Visual Studio or .NET environments
• UNIX applications using make files or comparable build environments
• Familiarity with software version control tools (e.g., Git, Subversion, or CVS)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline concepts and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, or Bamboo)
• Experience using software debugging/troubleshooting tools and techniques
• Software Analysis/Reverse Engineering experience
• Comfort writing assembly or mixed C/ASM when the problem demands it
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to effectively interact with customers
