Job summary

Atmos Energy seeks a Senior CNG Operations Lead to oversee natural gas vehicle and equipment activities, ensuring safety and policy adherence. You will mentor staff, provide technical support, and act as SME for the CNG team.

This role collaborates with Operations to drive improvements in CNG standards, drives technology adoption, and ensures timely regulatory reporting. On-site with possible travel requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and six years of natural gas service or construction & maintenance field experience.
  • Sr CNG Level required.
  • Must obtain and maintain minimum Operator Qualifications (OQs) and classroom training for the position.
  • Requires a valid driver's license with Class A CDL and Hazardous Materials Endorsement.
  • DOT/PHMSA drug testing and MVR background checks are required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, leads, and assures CNG operations and activities are performed safely and according to policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a high-level understanding of CNG equipment, stations, and fleet and provides technical support to less experienced employees.
  • Serves as a leader and SME to provide expert advice, training, technical assistance and acts as a resource to an assigned team.
  • Liaises between Operations and CNG team to assure timely completion of projects.
  • Makes recommendations for continuous improvement regarding development and evaluation of the Company's CNG operating standards.
  • Takes the lead in applying new technology and skills to accomplish tasks.
  • Facilitates CNG teams' ability to identify and resolve clearly defined problems using fact finding and alternatives.
  • Assesses training needs, coordinates delivery of needed training and monitors training quality.
  • Performs activities to assure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies.
  • Completes and maintains accurate records and reports to comply with Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Assures weekly and monthly reporting is completed and assigned to appropriate coding for work related projects.

Primary Duties

  • 2. Maintains a high-level understanding of CNG equipment, stations, and fleet and provides technical support to less experienced employees.
  • 3. Serves as a leader and SME to provide, expert advice, training, technical assistance. Acts as a resource to an assigned team.
  • 4. Services as a liaison between Operations and CNG team to assure timely completion of projects.
  • 5. Makes recommendations for continuous improvement regarding the development and evaluation of the Company's CNG operating standards.
  • 6. Takes the lead in applying new technology and skills to accomplish tasks.
  • 7. Facilitates CNG teams' ability to identify and resolve readily identifiable, clearly defined problems using established techniques such as fact finding and development of alternatives.
  • 8. Assesses team training needs, coordinates delivery of needed training and monitors the quality of training provided.
  • 9. Performs activities to assure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies.
  • 10. Completes and maintains accurate records and reports to comply with Company and regulatory requirements.
  • 11. Assures weekly and monthly reporting is completed and assigned to the appropriate coding for work related projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational/Experience Level:

High school diploma and six years of natural gas service or construction & maintenance field experience, including at least four years of CNG experience or equivalent. Must have obtained the Sr CNG Level.

Communication Skills:

Requires the ability to communicate with internal/external customers to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information on various subjects.

Numeric Skills:

Requires the ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages and simple statistical methods.

Computer Skills:

Requires working knowledge of various software applications for data entry, reference and/or retrieval tasks

Physical Demands:

Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting. Requires an acute sense of sight and hearing (corrected or uncorrected) and a strong sense of smell. Must be able to lift, push, and hold tools, equipment, and materials up to 53 pounds. May work standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling.

May be on call weekly for 24 hours a day.

Work Conditions:

Works indoors in an office environment and outdoors in all types of weather and may be exposed to extremes of climate and temperatures, high noise levels, rough terrain, and occasional work on ladders, roofs, attics, and under houses as well as confined spaces. Work requires entry to customer premises.

May have residence requirements due to call-out response time.

Due to the nature of the services required, employees must travel extensively overnight and have extended travel.

Other requirements:

  • Must obtain and maintain minimum Operator Qualifications (OQs) and classroom training for the position.
  • Requires a valid driver's license. Will require Class A CDL with Hazardous Material Endorsement with no restrictions.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Competent Person certificate within six months. Must obtain and maintain any other required OQs and classroom training or certifications within six months.
  • As a Safety-Sensitive position, pre and post-employment screenings, including but not limited to drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks are required.
