Job summary

Karman Space & Defense in California seeks a skilled CNC Machinist to operate vertical turning lathe (VTL) CNC machines and support high‑precision hardware production in a safety‑conscious facility.

You will prepare tooling, coordinate with programmers and management to maintain workflow, and uphold QMS requirements to ensure product conformity and safety.

Experience with Siemens 840D, Fanuc 31i‑B5 controls, and blueprint interpretation is essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Experience interpreting blueprints and applying tolerances.
• Knowledge of QMS reporting and process adherence.
• Experience with CNC machine setups and tool selection.
• Ability to communicate with internal customers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain AS9100 procedures and support continuous improvement.
• Keep work area clean and safe per policies.
• Perform CNC machine cleaning and maintenance.
• Maintain and store fixtures properly.
• Collaborate with programmers to optimize setup and cycle times.
• Order cutters and tooling as needed.
• Operate CNC machinery to produce components.
• Report quality or time-management concerns to management.
• Adhere to customer product safety requirements.
• Perform other duties as required.
