Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Industrial / Manufacturing Engineer focused on CNC tube bending in Decatur, IL. The role emphasizes design, programming, and optimization of rotary draw, ram forming, and push bending while supporting broader CNC machining and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

You will mentor operators, refine procedures, and collaborate across engineering, production, and quality teams to drive efficiency and quality on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of CNC tube bending experience with setup, programming, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with rotary draw, ram forming and push bending.
• Ability to interpret drawings and tolerances for complex tube geometries.
• Knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts and data-driven manufacturing is a plus.
• Experience mentoring operators and writing clear work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, set up and optimize CNC tube-bending processes to meet production and quality requirements.
• Troubleshoot defects like wrinkling, flattening, and spring-back with corrective actions.
• Select and configure tooling including mandrels and wiper dies for various geometries.
• Apply mandrel bending and wiper dies to prevent deformation in tight radii.
• Collaborate with CNC machining to integrate tube-bending with mills/lathes.
• Lead lean improvements to reduce waste and improve throughput.
• Improve equipment layouts and ergonomics for safety and productivity.
• Provide shop-floor support and develop standard work instructions.
• Stay current with Industry 4.0, simulation and digital tooling.
