Job Juncture is seeking a Diamond Turning Technician to operate and program diamond turning machines for optical components. The role requires familiarity with metrology tools and a strong ability to read specifications and drawings.

Cleanroom conditions and adherence to quality protocols are part of the daily routine. The candidate should have CNC programming experience, strong math skills, and the ability to work with precision under timelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
  • US Person as defined by 22 CFR 120.15 may be required.
  • One or more years of experience with CNC programming and operation is preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, programming, and operation of Diamond Turning machines to produce spherical and aspheric optical components.
  • Preparing and cleaning of optical components.
  • Use DIFFSYS software, or equivalent tool-path software.
  • Adjust machine performance to achieve optimal functionality and processing.
  • Measure complex parts using optical metrology equipment to determine compliance, including profilometers and interferometers.
  • Maintain functionality of Diamond Turning machines, keeping a well-organized and clean work center.
  • Works within an ISO9001 Quality Management System.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

  • A manufacturer of thin film coated optical products for a variety of markets
    including Aerospace, Medical, Defense, Imaging, Automotive, and general R&D, has an immediate opening for a Diamond Turning Technician.
  • The candidate should possess a good understanding of mechanics, mathematics as well as production and manufacturing fundamentals. Preferred background is in optical fabrication manufacturing utilizing CNC based machines, however candidates with strong electrical/mechanical backgrounds will be considered and receive needed training if hired.
  • 1st shift position available (possible split shift in future)
Preferred Experience
  • Knowledge of operation of diamond point turning machines and/or CNC Machines and metrology equipment (microscope, interferometer, contact and non-contact profilometer)
  • Knowledge of programming and troubleshooting diamond point turning machines and/or CNC Machines
  • Knowledge of working in a cleanroom environment
  • Read and interpret drawings and requirements from custom specifications
  • Perform mathematical functions for corrections in 3-dimentional space using formulas, conversions, and ratios
  • Critical thinking and resolves issues

Desired Experience/Other Qualifications
  • Experience in the operation and programming of CNC machines
  • Knowledge of conventional optical fabrication manufacturing
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to work under timelines and pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to read schematics/drawings and follow procedures
  • Ability to multitask
  • Works effectively without direct supervision

Job Duties

Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Exposure to chemicals, solvents, and oils
  • Use of safety glasses and latex gloves required
  • Ability to lift and/or carry at least 20lbs
Education, Credentials, and Qualifications
  • US Person as defined by 22 CFR 120.15 (Citizen, Permanent Resident)
  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Good communication skills with fluency in compositional and conversational English
  • One or more years of experience with CNC programming and operation preferred

Special Requirements
  • Willing to work weekends as necessary
  • Willing to work extended hours occasionally
