Job summary

CompoSecure is seeking a CNC Technician to set up and troubleshoot HAAS and DMG-MORI centers, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure accurate, high-quality parts. The role involves training, documentation, and collaboration with mechanics while supporting production objectives in a metal card technology environment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED Diploma required.
• Associate’s degree or Technical Vocational School preferred.
• Preferred 2 years of CNC Programming experience.
• Preferred 3 years HAAS experience including skilled operation of CNC Mills.
• Experience in G & M Code.
• Experience in programming and setting up 3 & 4-axis Vertical and Horizontal Machining Centers.
• Experience with CadCam software and Autocad or similar a plus.
• Good working knowledge of tooling and speed & feed calculation; Materials – Aluminum, Stainless, Plastics, and Steel.
• Task oriented, ability to prioritize workload.
• Enthusiastic attitude, cooperative team player, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, self-motivated, creative and innovative.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose problems and perform regular Preventive Maintenance on CNC machinery.
• Strong familiarity with HAAS and DMG-MORI CNC Machining Centers.
• Set up / change over jobs on CNC mills, change tooling, adjust offsets and calibrate probes.
• Assist team members with quality related questions / concerns.
• Ensure equipment and process are qualified when released to operators.
• Communicate status of machine activities to supervision.
• Inspect tool holders and machine function and schedule preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot from a technical standpoint; work with machine tool dealer and manuals.
• Provide training regarding basic safety, machine operation, quality.
• Instruct on machine fault resolution.
• Work with mechanics and perform mechanical work as needed.
• Document machine issues.
• Assist in normal production by operating equipment as directed.

Position Overview

In this position, the CNC Technician is responsible for setup, troubleshooting and diagnosing problems on HAAS Vertical Machining Centers and DMG-MORI Horizontal Machining Centers. The position requires working with various CNC machines to complete setups to ensure proper machine operation and troubleshooting when machine malfunctions, to correct issues.

Essential Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose problems and perform regular Preventive Maintenance on CNC machinery
• Strong familiarity with HAAS and DMG-MORI CNC Machining Centers
• Sets up / change over jobs on CNC mills, changes tooling, adjusts offsets and calibrate probes to ensure parts are accurate and machine is functioning correctly
• Assist team members with quality related questions / concerns
• Ensures equipment and process are qualified when released to operators
• Communicate status of machine activities to supervision
• Inspect tool holders and machine function and schedule preventative maintenance
• Understand how to troubleshoot from a technical standpoint. Work with the machine tool dealer and technical manuals to correct issues they’re not familiar with

Physical Qualifications And Work Environment

• Must be able to lift 20 lbs
• Must be able to sustain office work for 8+ hours per day including the following:
  • Sitting in an office chair
  • Typing

  • Standing at office equipment
  • Hearing for phone use
  • Sight for computer use
• Must be able to sustain factory work as needed including the following:
  • Standing at machinery
  • Reaching and pulling to operate machinery
  • Sight for machinery operation
  • Walking through shop
• Office environment is of moderate noise level.
• Shop noise levels are such that protective ear-coverings are recommended.

Required Skills And Competencies

Pay Range

$19.38 - $31.01 Hourly

Incentive Compensation

Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

This role may be eligible to participate in our annual or quarterly incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
