Job summary

Western Enterprises, a Marmon group member, is seeking a CNC Swiss Set up Operator in Avon Lake, OH. You will set up and run multiple machines, verify tooling and part layouts, and ensure parts meet specifications in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC production machines.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Proficiency with measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, go/no-go gauges).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate multiple CNC Swiss machines as required by routing.
• Verify tooling and calibration dates, adjust speeds and feeds.
• Read part prints, document first-run checks and in-process inspections.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
• Follow safety procedures and MSDS locations.

What You’ll Do

• Effectively use shop packages to include, but not limited to, manufacturing orders, bills of materials, routings, part prints, job layouts and quality alerts.
• Ensure gages and tools that are used are within calibration dates.
• Call out programs based on part number Positions and secures tools in tool holders.
• Sets /check/ adjust cutting speeds and feed rates.
• Moves controls to cycle machine through settings, stopping machine and adjusting tool positions and machine controls to allow for operating factors such as timing, clearance between moving parts, and chip removal.
• Starts machine, observes operation, and inspects first run and sample work piece to ensure machining conforms to specifications and document Turn in conforming parts of 1st pc. inspection to quality department
• Check parts on assigned intervals and document
• Follow 2 pan system procedures
• Wash parts by machine
• Replaces worn tools.
• Set up and operate multiple machines simultaneously as required by the routing.
• Demonstrates respectful behavior with all employees
• Operates with a sense of urgency when required.
• Request raw materials in a timely manner as needed for production and maintain accuracy of all inventory procedures.
• Understand and know where the Material Safety Data Sheets are located.
• Fill out daily labor cards correctly, completely, and timely.
• Be present and punctual according to work schedules (starting time, quitting, rest & clean up periods)
• Able to develop multiple skills for multiple cells as needed.
• Maintain all surrounding areas for cleanliness, orderliness and organization.
• Discuss all questions and concerns with your direct supervisors in a timely manner.
• Performs and documents preventative maintenance according to released methods 100% of the time

What You’ll Need

• Knowledge of:
• Basic Computer Knowledge
• Capability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Skills/Ability to:
• Ability to safely and properly operate and set up various CNC production machines.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and blueprints.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and fill in required quality forms.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read and properly use measuring devices, such as micrometers, calipers, go/no-go gages, and other inspection devices as needed.
