Howmet Aerospace Inc. is seeking a seasoned CNC supervisor to lead and develop machinists in a high-volume aerospace production environment. You will oversee setup, programming collaboration, and tooling optimization across multi-axis work, while ensuring GD&T conformance and strict quality control.

The role emphasizes coaching, safety, and accountability, with a focus on reducing cycle times, waste, and downtime through Lean practices and data-driven improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a supervisory role.
• Experience with multi-axis machining (3+2, 5-axis preferred).
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T proficiency.
• Ability to coach and develop employees while maintaining accountability.
• Experience with cycle time optimization and material usage reduction.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.

Responsabilités

• Lead, coach, and develop CNC machinists to achieve production, quality, and safety goals.
• Coordinate daily production activities, machine loading, shift priorities, and workflow to meet delivery requirements.
• Oversee CNC setup, operation, troubleshooting, tooling optimization, and multi-axis machining activities (3+2, 5-axis preferred).
• Review and validate CNC programs (G-code), tool lists, and fixturing; collaborate with programmers to optimize cycle times and material usage.
• Ensure adherence to engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, work instructions, and control plans.
• Implement and maintain quality control processes including in-process inspection, SPC, CMM routines, and containment of nonconforming parts.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, 5S, SMED) to reduce waste, improve throughput, and enhance process stability.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and partner with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and maintain machine health.
• Maintain accurate production documentation, machine logs, inspection reports, and performance metrics.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and high-performance.

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience, including advanced multi-axis machining, tooling, work holding, and troubleshooting.
• Proven supervisory or leadership experience in a CNC or high-volume production environment.
• Strong proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, CMM).
• Experience with CNC programming or program validation (Fanuc, Mastercam, CAM software).
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop employees while maintaining accountability and performance standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, and workflow issues.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with 5-axis machining, aerospace components, or tight-tolerance production environments.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement systems, and data-driven production management.
• CAD/CAM experience (SolidWorks, Mastercam, NX, or similar).
