Job summary

Card-Monroe Group in Chattanooga, Tennessee seeks a hands-on Machine Shop Manager to lead a 20-person machining operation across two shifts, driving safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost. You will establish standards, mentor machinists and implement continuous improvement.

Work closely with Engineering and Quality to resolve issues, develop talent, and balance production with cost controls. This leadership role requires strong communication, accountability and a proven track record in

Qualifications

7+ years CNC machining/manufacturing experience.
Demonstrated experience leading a machining/manufacturing team.
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
Experience with CNC mills and/or lathes.
Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
Experience using manufacturing metrics to manage performance.
Proven ability to coach employees and hold people accountable.
Strong communication with Engineering, Quality, and Operations.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day leadership for a team of ~20 machinists across two shifts.
Own shop performance across safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost.
Establish clear expectations, priorities and accountability for the team.
Monitor production schedules and remove barriers to meeting delivery commitments.
Maintain a visible leadership presence on the shop floor.
Hire, coach and retain a high-performing machining team.
Develop employees and create opportunities for cross-training and advancement.
Build bench strength and future leaders within the shop.
Create a culture of ownership and problem-solving on the floor.
Lead standardization of work practices and continuous improvement.
