Job summary

Specialty Tooling Systems (STS) is seeking a CNC Setup & Shop Assistant to join our manufacturing team in Grand Rapids. The role involves working with a CNC Machinist to set up jobs and prepare machines for operation, with responsibilities that include basic shop duties when setups are not in progress.

Successful candidates will assist in quality checks, routine maintenance, and maintaining a safe, clean work area.

Qualifications

• Experience as a CNC Setup person.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the machine and set up the jobs under the direction of a CNC Machinist.
• Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
• Assist in general shop duties when no setup tasks are assigned.
• Keep the work area clean and organized.
• Follow all safety rules and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Maintain regular attendance during scheduled work hours.
• Employees may be asked to perform other duties as required.

Supervisory responsibilities: None.

Summary/objective: Specialty Tooling Systems (STS) is seeking CNC Setup & Shop Assistants to join their team! The responsibilities will include working with an STS Machinist in setting up jobs - including preparing the machine for operation. When not setting up, you will be assigned general shop duties.

Essential functions:

• Under the direction of a CNC Machinist, prepare the machine and set up the jobs
• Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance
• Assist in general shop duties when no setup tasks are assigned
• Keep work area clean.
• Follow all safety rules and report unsafe work conditions to management.
• Regular attendance at work during scheduled work hours.
• Employees may be requested to perform other job functions as required.

Required competency, education, and experience:

• Experience as a CNC Setup person
• Candidate must have high school or equivalent education.
• Candidate must have valid driver’s license

Work environment: Manufacturing environment

Physical demands:

• Candidate must have full use of all limbs.
• Candidate must be able to read and speak English.
• Candidate must be able to lift 40 pounds.

Position type and expected hours of work: Full time. Day and night shift available.
