Job summary

Staffmark Group in Zimmerman, MN is seeking a skilled CNC Setup Machinist to program, set up, and run CNC mills and lathes with precision. You will read blueprints, verify readiness, load tooling and programs, and perform first-piece inspections to ensure quality. The role demands strong GD&T, tool offset adjustments, and tight tolerance handling.

Qualifications

  • CNC setup experience on mills, lathes, or both.
  • Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Ability to adjust tool offsets and troubleshoot machining processes.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • CMM experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions.
  • Set up CNC mills, lathes, and related equipment from an unfurnished state.
  • Load tooling, programs, and verify machine readiness.
  • Stage materials and conduct first-piece inspections.
  • Load and unload materials from CNC machines.
  • Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauge pins, thread gauges, and height stands.
  • Identify and address nonconforming parts.
  • Monitor production and make machine offsets as needed.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize performance.
  • Operate multiple machines when required.
  • Maintain accurate communication with supervisors regarding production status; follow quality, organization, and housekeeping standards.

  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery while following established safety procedures.
