Job summary

Staffmark Group is seeking a CNC Machinist in Portland, OR to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, read blueprints, and ensure dimensional accuracy. You will load programs, install tooling, measure parts, and participate in inspections to maintain high quality.

Qualified candidates have 2+ years of CNC experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to lift 50 lbs with steel-toe shoes. This position offers a Monday–Friday schedule and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required or preferred.
• Technical or vocational machining training is desirable.
• 2+ years of CNC experience required.
• Able to lift 50 lbs and wear steel-toe shoes.
• Able to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
• Experience with CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis centers.
• Familiar with G-code; basic programming is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specs.
• Load and edit CNC programs for proper machining.
• Install tooling, fixtures and offsets.
• Measure parts with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, borescopes.
• Perform first-piece, in-process and final inspections.
• Monitor and adjust machines to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Perform routine maintenance and keep area clean.
• Troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime.
• Follow safety procedures and document results.
• Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality personnel.

Job Duties

• Measure finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to ensure product quality.
• Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment clean and in good working order.
• Identify and troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime.
• Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Document production activities, inspections, and quality results accurately.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and quality personnel to improve manufacturing processes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Technical or vocational training in machining preferred
• 2+ years of CNC experiece
• Able to lift 50 lbs.

• Able to read blueprints + use precision meansuring instruments
• Experience with CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machining centers
• Familiar with G-code and basis CNC programming is a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills + attention to detail
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
