Job summary

Job Juncture partners with a Grove City manufacturer to recruit an experienced CNC Setup Machinist for an onsite role. You will set up 4- and 5-axis machining centers, confirm first article quality, and prepare operators for production success.

Responsibilities include preparing tooling/fixtures, interpreting complex drawings, inspecting with CMM data, and collaborating with programmers to improve toolpaths and cycle times.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CNC machining or setup experience, with 2+ years on 4- and 5-axis centers.
• Strong GD&T understanding and ability to read complex blueprints.
• Experience editing and troubleshooting G&M codes for Fanuc controls.

Responsibilities

• Set up 4- and 5-axis VMCs/HMCs, including tooling, fixturing, and offsets within quoted times.
• Prepare machines for complex part geometries from drawings and setup sheets.
• Perform first-piece inspections with micrometers, indicators, height gauges, bore gauges, and CMM data.
• Collaborate with programmers to optimize toolpaths and cycle times for multi-axis work.
• Troubleshoot tool reach, interference, and workholding clearance issues.
• Maintain setup docs and tooling lists for repeat jobs.
• Ensure safe, consistent operation during initial production runs.

Job description

We are partnered with an AMAZING manufacturer in Grove City, OH on their search for an experienced CNC SETUP MACHINIST. This position is responsible for setting up CNC machining centers, getting parts through First Article approval, and setting up Operators for success during production. This is an ONSITE position with a schedule of Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm.

Responsibilities:

• Perform complete setups on 4- and 5-axis VMCs and HMCs, including tooling, workholding/fixtures, program loading, and all machine offsets within quoted times and within quoted part cycle times
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and multi-op setup sheets to prepare machines for complex part geometries.
• Validate setups by performing thorough first-piece inspections using micrometers, indicators, height gauges, bore gauges, and CMM data
• Collaborate with programmers to recommend improvements to toolpaths, speeds/feeds, and cycle times for multi-axis machining
• Troubleshoot issues related to tool reach, interference, workholding clearance, and axis/rotary behavior
• Optimize machining processes by recommending updated tooling, fixturing, and cutting strategies
• Maintain setup documentation and tooling lists for repeat jobs
• Ensure machines run safely and consistently during initial production runs
• Monitor production of parts and address issues as they arise
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Proficient reading, writing, and computer skills; strong math skills
• Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, and different types of metals
• Strong understanding of CNC programming and Fanuc Controls, including the ability to edit and troubleshoot G & M codes
• 3+ years of CNC machining or setup experience, with 2+ years working on 4- or 5-axis machining centers
• Strong understanding of multi-axis workholding, orientation, and part datum structures.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and GD&T
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques, including CMMs
• Able to work independently and solve setup-related issues quickly
