Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Lathe and Mill machines.
• Optimize setup times and improve productivity.

• Follow in-process part inspection protocols.
• Perform daily maintenance checks and document findings.

Skills

Knowledge of calipers, gauges, and other required measuring tools

Strong proficiency in basic math

Ability to accurately document machining procedures

Familiarity with metals and lathe/mill tooling

Experience with Okuma, Mazak, and Mori lathe machines

Basic oral communication skills

Job description

At Martin Sprocket & Gear, we’re dedicated to producing quality mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings with excellence, and we’re looking for skilled CNC Machine Operators.

What You’ll Do

• Set up full production cycle and operate CNC Lathe and Mill machines for tasks such as turning, drilling, bar feeding, milling and live tooling.
• Optimize setup times, improve productivity, maintain offsets, and maximize machine utilization.
• Read and understand blueprints and route instructions.
• Apply expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Troubleshoot programs and make necessary adjustments.
• Follow in-process part inspection protocols and report non-conformance issues to the Supervisor/Lead.
• Coordinate with superintendents, managers, production control, and quality personnel to resolve quality concerns.
• Work safely and consistently wear required PPE throughout the shift.
• Record and document issues for a seamless shift transition.
• Perform daily maintenance checks and document findings.

What You'll Bring

• Knowledge of calipers, gauges, and other required measuring tools.
• Strong proficiency in basic math.
• Ability to accurately document machining procedures.
• Familiarity with metals, part-holding fixtures, and lathe/mill tooling.
• Experience with Okuma, Mazak, and Mori lathe machines (preferred).
• Basic oral communication skills and the ability to read, comprehend, and complete logs and reports in English.
• Ability to handle heavy items, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components.
• Availability to work scheduled hours and adhere to all company policies, including timekeeping.
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment and stand for an entire shift.
• Strong understanding of machining practices, materials, and general mechanical principles.
• Eagerness to be trained and a desire to learn new skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Dependable with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

Your Schedule

• 1st Shift, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
