Job summary

ICON is seeking a skilled CNC machinist to operate and program a CNC router at our Austin, TX HQ. You will read blueprints, input designs to generate g-code, select cutting tools, and optimize machine settings while ensuring top quality.

You will also troubleshoot, perform routine maintenance, and train new staff as needed. The role requires 3+ years of CNC experience, proficiency with Rhino/Fusion/SolidWorks, and the ability to work independently onsite.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience operating and programming a CNC router.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience programming/ running a CNC router to cut Aluminum, Wood, & Plastics.
• Ability to read and interpret design blueprints.
• Experience with computer modeling software, including: Rhino, Fusion, & Solid Works.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Proficient communication and collaboration across disciplines.
• Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines.
• Ability to lift heavy objects (50-100lbs).

Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting technical blueprints.
• Inputting the product designs into the programming software and generating g-code.
• Choosing and loading the correct cutting tools for the job.
• Adjusting machine settings to the appropriate specifications.
• Loading raw materials into the CNC machine (with and without a forklift).
• Troubleshooting issues during the manufacturing process.
• Completing quality control tests during the manufacturing stage and on the final product.
• Cleaning and maintaining the machine.
• Communicating with engineers and designers as needed.
• Training new staff on machine operation procedures.
• Basic fabrication shop duties, including cutting material, prepping, cleaning, etc.
