Job summary

Magna Powertrain in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking a skilled CNC Technician to manage CNC programs, tooling and inserts while developing prototype parts and tooling. The role emphasizes CIP activities and continuous improvement to reduce downtime and improve quality.

You will work with CNC lathes and vertical mills, train operators, and ensure tooling efficiency. A strong background in G-code and measurements is required, with willingness to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Five years of CNC programming and setup experience.
• Proficient in G-code programming and machine operations.
• Experience with turning and milling processes.
• CMM experience would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop CNC programs both manually and with software to ensure efficient, cost‑effective machining of parts.
• Set-up, adjust and troubleshoot CNC, lathes and vertical mills to meet quality requirements.
• Able to operate line gauging and interpret readings.
• Participate in team problem solving and CIP activities as required.
• Coordinate tooling preventative maintenance and tool changes.
• Train CNC Operators in tool changes and robot teaching.
• Ensure all setups minimize downtime, scrap and tooling costs.
• Produce parts to close tolerances and on time.
