Job summary

Fairbanks Morse in Fairfield, OH is seeking a hands-on CNC Programmer with 2–4 years of programming and shop-floor scheduling experience. You will create high‑efficiency nesting layouts and program CNC cutting machines (laser, plasma, waterjet, punch) with accurate G‑code, while ensuring material traceability and CMTR compliance.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of CNC programming and machine scheduling experience on the shop floor.
• Proficient in CAD/CAM software (SigmaNEST, ProNest, AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Experience with PEP software and ERP/MRP systems (Epicor, JobBOSS, SAP).
• G-code programming, blueprint reading, GD&T, and nesting optimization.
• High school diploma or GED and CNC programming cert; AS degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create nesting layouts to maximize material utilization and minimize waste.
• Program CNC machines (laser, plasma, waterjet, punch) and generate accurate G-code.
• Convert 3D models to flat 2D files with proper bend deductions.
• Review CAD files to remove geometry errors before production.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to meet quality and efficiency standards.
• Plan and optimize CNC schedules using PEP software, aligning with timelines.
• Dispatch CNC work orders and sequence nesting for throughput.
• Run nesting simulations to provide material usage and cycle-time data.
• Adjust schedules in real time to handle delays and bottlenecks.
• Maintain CMTR records and ensure full traceability for Navy/vendor/customer requirements.
