Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer III to take the lead on programming complex, multi-axis parts on brand-new Fanuc-controlled lathes and VTLs. You will own the programming from day one and mentor junior programmers to preserve the company’s legacy of precision in compression equipment used worldwide.

You will develop advanced CNC programs, tooling, and fixtures, while driving cycle-time reductions and efficiency gains across the shop floor.

Qualifications

• 7–9 years CNC programming and machining experience.
• Advanced CNC programming across multiple machine types.
• EdgeCam programming experience.
• Strong knowledge of solid modeling and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation of advanced CNC programs for complex geometries and multi-axis machines.
• Develop tooling and fixture solutions that support high-precision production.
• Drive optimization efforts to reduce cycle times and improve efficiency across the shop floor.
• Mentor and train CNC Programmer I and II team members, building programming skill across the team.
• Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective actions for recurring machining issues.
• Partner with manufacturing engineering to implement process improvements that scale.

Get in on the ground floor with three brand-new lathes — all Fanuc controls, including VTL — and own the programming from day one. As a CNC Programmer III, you’ll sit at the top of that legacy: programming the complex, multi-axis parts that keep our reputation intact, and mentoring the next generation of programmers who will carry it forward.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Lead the creation of advanced CNC programs for complex geometries and multi‑axis machines.
• Develop tooling and fixture solutions that support high‑precision production.
• Drive optimization efforts to reduce cycle times and improve efficiency across the shop floor.
• Mentor and train CNC Programmer I and II team members, building programming skill across the team.

WHO YOU ARE

• High school diploma required.
• 7–9 years of CNC programming and machining experience.
• Advanced CNC programming expertise across multiple machine types.
• EdgeCam programming experience.
• Strong knowledge of solid modeling.
• Advanced metrology and GD&T fluency.
• Comfortable writing clear technical documentation and process instructions.

PREFERRED

• Certifications in CNC machining or CAD applications.
• Unigraphics solid modeling experience.
