Overview

Growing manufacturing firm in Santa Ana is seeking a CNC Programmer/Engineer. The CNC Programmer/Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for aerospace manufacturing operations. This role ensures parts are machined to meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and delivery requirements while improving production efficiency. The position requires strong technical expertise in multi-axis CNC machining, fixture design, tooling selection, and process improvement in a regulated aerospace environment.

Base pay range

$75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machines using CAD/CAM software
  • Interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications to determine machining processes and requirements
  • Select appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, and work-holding methods to maximize efficiency and quality
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve machining issues and improve processes
  • Conduct first article setups and verify program accuracy to AS9102 requirements
  • Maintain revision control and documentation for all CNC programs in accordance with AS9100 standards
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to machining defects
  • Provide technical guidance and training to CNC operators and setup personnel
  • Recommend process improvements for cycle time reduction, cost savings, and quality enhancement
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace manufacturing standards, safety regulations, and company procedures
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) activities, including process planning and prototyping
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC programming experience in aerospace manufacturing
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, CATIA, NX, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of G-code programming and multi-axis machining principles
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T
  • Experience with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality standards and AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements
  • Skilled in selecting tooling and determining machining parameters for aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and aerospace alloys
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for machining and programming issues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and work near machinery
