Job summary

WALCO Tool & Engineering is seeking a mid-level CNC Programmer to translate engineering intent into accurate, repeatable CNC programs that support on-time, high-quality production. This role is essential to standardizing programming methods and improving cycle times.

The candidate will review blueprints, translate prints into G&M code, and collaborate with machinists and engineers to ensure program accuracy. Day shift, on-site in Romeoville, IL.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CNC programming experience.
• Proficiency in CAM software.
• Working knowledge of CAD and 3D modeling applications.
• Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
• Strong understanding of engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Review blueprints and routing sheets to create efficient, standardized CNC programs.
• Translate part prints and engineering intent into accurate, repeatable G&M code-based programs.
• Build and maintain clear, well-organized programming documentation.
• Partner with machinists and engineers to confirm program accuracy, efficiency, and part performance.
• Support standardization of programming methods across jobs to reduce cycle time where possible.

Pay Range: $27 – $30 per hour (DOE)
Shift: Day Shift (Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
Experience Level: Mid-Level (3+ years CNC programming experience)
Work Environment: Climate-controlled precision machine shop

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

• Review blueprints and routing sheets to create efficient, standardized CNC programs
• Translate part prints and engineering intent into accurate, repeatable G&M code-based programs
• Build and maintain clear, well-organized programming documentation
• Partner with machinists and engineers to confirm program accuracy, efficiency, and part performance
• Support standardization of programming methods across jobs to reduce cycle time where possible

Machines, Programming & Software

You will work with:

• CNC milling and turning centers (multi-axis)
• CAM programming software (Surfcam or similar)
• CAD and 3D modeling applications (SolidWorks or similar)
• Vericut simulation experience is a plus

What We're Looking For

Required

• 3+ years of CNC programming experience
• CAM software proficiency
• Working knowledge of CAD and 3D modeling applications
• Advanced blueprint reading and in-depth GD&T knowledge
• Strong understanding of engineering documentation

• Vericut experience
• Experience in a high-mix, precision job shop environment
