Job summary

GE Aerospace in Wisconsin seeks a motivated student to join the machinist team. You will work with an experienced machinist to set-up and operate CNC mills and lathes, handling various castings and bar stock, while learning Lean manufacturing practices.

This role requires current enrollment in a vocational/technical program and hands-on machining coursework, with the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. You will gain practical skills and teamwork experience toward a career in precision manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Vocational Technical High School (at least midway through junior year).
• Currently enrolled in a machinist/manufacturing program; hands-on machining/manufacturing experience or coursework.
• Ability to lift, move and manipulate fixtures and component hardware up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Work with materials such as castings, forgings, screw machine blanks, turret lathe blanks, sawed blanks and bar stock.
• Perform set-ups including changing chuck jaws, tool holders, fixtures, boring bars, drills, reamers, setting tools.
• Follow Lean Manufacturing guidelines (one-piece flow, standard work, 6S, set-up reduction).
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and keep work area organized and safe.
