Job summary

Precinmac is actively seeking a CNC Programmer/Toolmaker in South Paris, ME. The role focuses on designing, procuring, programming, and building tooling and fixturing to support production on CNC machines, including lathes, grinders, and mills.

You will ensure fixtures are efficient, accurate, and integrate smoothly into workflows. The position requires advanced CAM programming (CAMWorks) and CAD modeling (SolidWorks), with at least 5 years machining experience and 1 year programming.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of machining experience with at least 1 year of programming (CAD/CAM) experience.
• Strong computer proficiency and blueprint reading skills.
• Demonstrated technical, interpersonal, supervisory, and organizational expertise.

Responsibilities

• Develop, design, and manufacture fixturing to meet production schedules and optimize machining processes.
• Collaborate with engineers and programmers to support department objectives.
• Edit and adjust programs to support production operations.
• Maintain backups of finalized programs and fixture designs.
• Prepare tool lists and coordinate with the tool crib to ensure tools are available.
• Order cutting tools and maintain tooling records.
• Assist with machine setups and perform setups when necessary.

We are looking for a CNC Programmer/Toolmaker who has a drive for excellence!

TheCNC Programmer/Toolmakeris responsible for designing, procuring, programming, and building tooling and fixturing required to support production manufacturing on CNC machine tools and ancillary equipment- such as lathes, grinders, and mills that cut and finish metals. This role ensures fixtures are optimized for efficiency, accuracy, and seamless integration into production workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, design, and manufacture fixturing to meet production schedules and optimize machining processes
• Collaborate within a team of engineers and programmers to support department responsibilities and objectives
• Edit and adjust programs as needed to support production manufacturing operations
• Maintain network backups of finalized programs and fixture designs at the completion of each job
• Prepare tool lists and coordinate with the tool crib to ensure necessary tools are available
• Order cutting tools when required and maintain updated tooling records as needed
• Collaborate with Engineering and the CNC Milling Manager to resolve process and routing issues
• Supervise floor operators as directed by the CNC Milling Manager
• Assist with machine setups and perform setups when necessary
• Troubleshoot setup, programming, and tooling issues to minimize disruptions

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Advanced CAM programming skills (Preferably CAMWorks)
• CAD solid modeling design skills (Preferably SolidWorks)
• Strong reading comprehension and blueprint interpretation abilities
• Proficiency in math, including algebra, trigonometry, and physics
• Active listening and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Mechanical aptitude with a deep understanding of metal shop operations
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Proficiency in standard computer and digital manufacturing tools (word processors, spreadsheets, databases, DNC software)
• Understanding of safety measures pertinent to machining operations

Education & Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of machining experience with at least 1 year of programming (CAD/CAM) experience
• Strong computer proficiency, blueprint reading skills, and mathematical aptitude
• Demonstrated technical, interpersonal, supervisory, and organizational expertise
• Technical degree or certifications in a relevant field (strongly preferred)
