Job summary

Staffmark Group in Villard, MN is hiring a CNC Programmer to program, set up, and operate CNC equipment, reading complex blueprints and GD&T. You’ll write and execute programs and inspect parts for quality while supporting efficient production.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years CNC programming experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and familiarity with G-code and CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360). Pay ranges from $20 to $32 per hour, with Monday–Thursday, 6:00am–4:30pm schedule.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years CNC programming experience
  • Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings and technical specs
  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, indicators)
  • Understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds and speeds
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Proven experience as CNC programmer or similar role
  • Proficiency in G-code and CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks)
  • Familiarity with milling and turning processes
  • Ability to read technical drawings and GD&T
  • Knowledge of tooling, materials and cutting techniques
  • Familiarity with quality control standards and measurement tools

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret machining instructions from blueprints and drawings
  • Set up tooling, write and execute complex CNC programs
  • Operate and program a wide range of production work
  • Perform secondary operations such as stamping part numbers and deburring
  • Inspect machine parts using micrometers and gauges to ensure specs
  • Conduct routine maintenance and quality audits in the shop
  • Independently write programs as required
  • Assist in other areas and perform additional tasks as needed

Job Duties
  • Read and interpret machining instructions from complex blueprints, part, and machine drawings.
  • Set up all tooling, write, and execute complex programs.

  • Inspect machine parts using micrometers and other measuring tools to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and quality audits within the machine shop department.
  • Independently write programs as required.
  • Assist in other areas and perform additional tasks as needed.
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school, machining certificate, or CNC programming education preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of CNC programming experience
Experience Requirements
  • Experience operating, setting up, or programming CNC machine tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
  • Understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds, speeds, and material properties.
  • Strong attention to detail, mathematical ability, and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Proven experience as a CNC programmer or similar role
  • Proficiency in G-code and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks)
  • Strong understanding of machining processes (milling, turning, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
  • Knowledge of tooling, materials, and cutting techniques
  • Familiarity with quality control standards and measurement tools
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with CNC mills, lathes, machining centers, or multi-axis equipment is preferred.
  • Experience editing CNC programs, setting tooling offsets, and performing machine setups is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with G-code, CAD/CAM software, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Fanuc, or similar CNC controls is considered an asset.
  • Individuals who demonstrate strong troubleshooting abilities, continuous learning, and commitment to precision manufacturing are well positioned for success as a CNC Programmer.
Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work around machining equipment throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift materials, tooling, and components weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to safely operate CNC machinery and precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery while following established safety procedures.
