Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. seeks a skilled CNC programmer to develop complete programs for 4-5 axis milling, lathes, and mill-turn machines using SolidWorks and GibbsCAM.

You will analyze orders and drawings, select tooling, verify code against models, and coordinate with manufacturing to ensure parts meet specifications while following safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications

  • Three+ years of related CNC experience.
  • Two+ years CAD/CAM experience required.
  • SolidWorks and GibbsCAM preferred.
  • Ability to read complex drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to interpret engineering data and write machine-level instructions.
  • Strong math skills for tooling, speeds, and feeds.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze job orders and drawings to select tools, speeds, and feeds.
  • Observe trail runs or simulations to validate programs.
  • Verify CNC code against engineering models for accuracy.
  • Write, modify, and store CNC programs and data.
  • Coordinate with other departments to implement changes.
  • Provide progress updates and troubleshooting to management.
  • Maintain safety, PPE, and clean work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Develop a complete CNC program package usingCAD and CAM software(SolidWorks and GibbsCAM preferred)software for 4-5 axis CNC Milling equipment, CNC Lathes and CNC Mill-Turn Machines. Package includes, but is not limited to, machine programs, cutter selection, setup documentation, tooling, fixture design&drafting, CNC tooling programs, verification, and shopaid sketches.

ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design datain order tocalculate part dimension compatibility with machines, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.

  • Observe machine trail runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications.
  • Verify CNC code to engineering models to ensure accuracy.
  • Write, store, and modify original and/or existing CNC programs to enhance efficiency.
  • Store, retrieve, and transfer CNC data as required.
  • Coordinate with other functional areas as needed to implement and change CNC programs.
  • Provide progress, status, and troubleshooting reports to management.
  • Occasionally perform special projects.
  • Comply with all applicable safety requirements, policies and procedures while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
  • Participate in required training, medical monitoring, safety, and health evaluations and programs.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)in all designated areas of facility.
  • Perform all physical functions of position; standing, stooping, bending, sitting, walking, twisting, kneeling, turning and lifting of materials up to35lbs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

High school diplomaorequivalentrequired.

  • Three plus years of related experience required.
  • Two plus years of CAD and CAM experience required (SolidWorks and GibbsCAM preferred.)
  • Ability to useadvanced shop mathematics, charts, tables and handbook formulas.
  • Ability to work with complicated drawings, sketches and specifications.
  • Ability to read Blueprints and understand measuring devices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering documentation and write appropriate machine-level instructions, including revisions to existing programs.
  • Good computer skills and ability to query, monitor, and input NC machine and system data.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others and to draw on other’s expertise when required.
