Job summary

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in an Aerospace / Manufacturing or related industry.
  • Read and comprehend programming instructions, technical manuals, procedure manuals, and short correspondence.
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference, and volume.
  • Apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
  • Must be highly proficient in Catia V5, Vericut and ICAM (post processing).
  • Advanced knowledge of modern machining methods for aerospace alloys.
  • Knowledge of defining cutting tools, machine strategy, and cutting parameters etc.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
  • Lead discussions with planning department to develop complete manufacturing plans of complex components and assemblies.
  • Must research best practices and tools for each job, regardless of materials or scope of project.
  • Use abilities to work with tooling vendors and shop personnel to reduce cycle times and increase quality.
  • Draft and fully dimension drawings in Catia V5 for fixturing, shop aids, repair plans, etc.
  • Create requests for information to send to customers as needed.
  • Program highly complex precision parts for VTL’s, 5 Axis Mills, Multi‑spindle machines and mill‑turns in CATIA V5. Mastercam experience is a plus (addition to CATIA).
  • Must participate in root cause and corrective actions as an expert problem solver.
  • Must participate in continuous improvement efforts and general support using your manufacturing experience to assist all departments.
  • Must be able to provide clear and accurate work instructions. Tool lists and setup sheets must be comprehensive and easy to understand.
  • Must use Vericut machine simulation for every program generated with expert level proficiency. Need to be able to fully define tools and setups without assistance.
  • Must review all customer requirements to ensure CAD models and programs will produce compliant products.
  • Must mentor and train shop personnel in advanced manufacturing methods with an ability to explain as well as demonstrate ideas in action.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills

Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in an Aerospace / Manufacturing or related industry
  • Education: Two years of Technical or Trade School with appropriate certification preferred.
  • Read and comprehend programming instructions, technical manuals, procedure manuals, and short correspondence.
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference, and volume.
  • Apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Problem solving ability with limited information available.
  • Must be highly proficient in Catia V5, Vericut and ICAM (post processing)
  • Advanced knowledge of modern machining methods for aerospace alloys
  • Knowledge of defining cutting tools, machine strategy, and cutting parameters etc.
  • Ability to relate to officials, staff and public in a courteous manner.
  • Must be able to lift-up to 40 pounds.
Special Requirements and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
  • Safety glasses required when in manufacturing environment.
  • Hearing protection as needed.

Work Conditions
  • Hours outside of a normal working day may be required to meet project deadlines or ability to work overtime to support production demand.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices.
  • Ability to work onsite, in a non‑remote setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

This position requires the use of information or access to hardware subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by ITAR.
