Job summary

KIHOMAC, Inc. in Layton, UT is seeking an experienced CNC machinist/programmer to lead multi-axis machining projects. You will develop CNC programs, interpret engineering drawings, and drive process improvements across the shop floor.

The role requires collaboration with Project Managers and engineers to meet schedules and quality targets. Responsibilities include CAD fixture modeling, setup, and mentoring of technicians and junior programmers, with a focus on AS9100/ISO9001 quality standards

Qualifications

  • 5+ years highly preferred.
  • Understanding of AS9100, ISO9001, or similar quality standards.
  • Experience programming 3-, 4- and/or 5-axis CNC machining centers.
  • Experience operating 3-, 4- and/or 5-axis CNC machining centers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all phases of part machining including cost estimating and processes definition.
  • Provide support to project managers and engineering personnel for scheduling and reporting.
  • Participate in test or project events and report status.
  • Perform CAD development and modeling of fixturing; interpret drawings and customer specs.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and modify programs to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Mentor technicians and other programmers; support prove-out of new programs.

Job description

  • Perform all phases of part machining including:
    • Cost estimating for all phases of machining process
    • Review of part/component/system technical data for completeness and accuracy
    • Processes definition & development of documentation
    • Identification of tooling, jig and fixture requirements & support/input/review of engineering designs
    • CNC file development, test and implementation
    • Set-up
    • Rough and finish machining
    • Identification of machine tool requirements
    • Shop layout planning
  • Provide support to either Project Manager or mid-level/junior Engineering/Science personnel in the areas of scheduling, data gathering/limited analyses preparation of technical/project reports, test reports, drawings, specifications and associated documentation
  • Participate in test or project events as assigned by Project Manager or Engineering supervisor
  • Report project status and results
  • Perform CAD development and modeling of fixturing
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, 3D CAD models and customer specifications
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and modify programs to improve quality and efficiency
  • Support technicians during prove-out of new programs
  • Mentor and educate technicians and other programmers
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Training:
  • Associate’s Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline preferred
Experience:
  • 5+ years highly preferred
  • Mastercam experience preferred
  • Understanding of AS9100, ISO9001, or similar quality standards
  • Experience programming 3-, 4- and/or 5+ axis CNC machining centers
  • Experience operating 3-, 4- and/or 5+ axis CNC machining centers
Security:
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, grasp, handle and operate hand/power tools and machine controls
  • Perform frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements
  • Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, etc.) for the assigned task
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time

Salary:

The projected salary range for this position is $67,000-$85,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation, rather actual salary will be based on experience, qualifications, and applicable certifications or degrees held. Offered salary may fall outside of this range.
