Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a dedicated CNC Programmer to join our Operations team. You will translate customer drawings into machine language using AutoCAD, Sigmanest, and M-G code across plasma, oxy-fuel, and laser equipment to produce high-quality parts.

Responsibilities include nesting for material efficiency, drawing adjustments per customer needs, daily customer/supplier interactions, and maintaining a 98% on-time delivery standard with strict work instructions. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; an Associate's or Technical Degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of programming experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Sigmanest nesting software and various machine codes (M-G code).
• Familiarity with SigmaNest software.
• Strong math and written/oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Program parts for processing on all equipment: plate cutting (Oxy-Fuel and plasma), machining, plate laser, piece finishing.
• Create piece-part nests to improve material utilization.
• Adjust drawings based on customer need, downtime, or operator feedback.
• Interact with customers and suppliers daily.
• Ensure quality with on-time delivery targets and adherence to work instructions.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements in work processes.
• Carry out other duties as assigned or as needs change.

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled CNC Programmer to become an integral part of our Operations team. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise in CNC programming, AutoCAD, and Sigmanest software to transform customer visions into reality. Your ability to interpret customer-supplied drawings and sketches will be crucial in converting them into precise machine language, ensuring the production of high-quality finished parts.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Program parts for processing on all equipment: plate cutting (Oxy-Fuel and plasma), machining, plate laser, piece finishing
• Create piece-part super nests to improve material utilization
• Adjustments to drawings based on customer need, equipment downtime, operator feedback, etc.
• Interact with customers and suppliers on a daily basis
• Customer satisfaction management of Quality with a 98% on-time delivery requirement
• Daily compliance with job work instructions
• Identification and implementation of continuous improvements in all work processes

Requirements

• High School Diploma is required; Associate's or Technical Degree is preferred
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a programming position
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Sigmanest nesting software and various machine codes to communicate with a wide range of CNC machine controllers (understanding of M-G code)
• Familiarity with SigmaNest software
• Strong math skills, strong written and oral communication skills
