II. PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF FUNCTION

The CNC Programmer is responsible for following established procedures, guidelines, and for the complex set-up, inspection, and functioning of production machinery. The set-up Programmer will be responsible for the effective troubleshooting on assigned machinery and must be fully proficient in programming CNC highly complex machinery.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF FUNCTION

The CNC Programmer is responsible for following established procedures, guidelines, and for the complex set-up, inspection, and functioning of production machinery. The set-up Programmer will be responsible for the effective troubleshooting on assigned machinery and must be fully proficient in programming CNC highly complex machinery.

Essential Job Duties

  • Programs and operate highly complex CNC machinery to include CNC lathes, milling machines, and wire EDM
  • Perform complicated and elaborate set-ups to include loosening and settings stops, changing out dies, placing rolls on a machine, and ensuring adequate temperatures and speeds.
  • Must perform complex adjustments and secure workpieces/products in holding device.
  • Ensure gauges, valves, water levels and lubricants are set to proper parameters.
  • Perform changeovers, preventative maintenance, quality tests, and moderate repairs.
  • Adjusts controls to set and regulate machining factors, such as pressure, rollers, blade angle, and machine speed.
  • Effectively train Machine Operators on the safe operation of assigned machinery.
  • Must demonstrate good housekeeping practices.
  • Ability to rotate to all functional areas.
  • Report existing or potential machine problems to a coach or supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Be fully capable of programming complex CNC equipment.
  • Preferred 5 to 7 years dedicated to understanding a specific technical operation and experience in a manufacturing environment (required)
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of product specifications and procedures, such as dimensions, measurements, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Perform complex preventive maintenance and lubrication on equipment.
  • Advance computer skills and reading skills; the ability to read and understand complex blueprints.
  • Must possess advanced math skills to include but not limited to, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and conversions.
  • Throughout understanding DataFlo system and the ability to pull, enter, and interpret data.
  • Proven strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Thorough understanding of the Lockout-Tagout procedure.
  • Ability to meet production and scrap standards.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Education, Credentials & Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Industrial Mechanical Certification (preferred)
