Job summary

ProMATIC Automation Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist located in Fletcher, North Carolina. The candidate will independently program, setup, and operate CNC machines while monitoring part quality to ensure standards are met. Essential responsibilities include maintaining CNC programs, monitoring machining processes, and working with a team to maximize productivity.

This full-time position requires a minimum of one year of CNC experience and the ability to utilize manufacturing software to create programs. The expected work hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Job description

Work independently to program, setup and operate CNC machines, including Proto Trak machines. Also monitor part quality per engineering drawings, sketches, or other documentation, including verbal instruction, using measuring devices. Often tasks assigned may be considered production runs of high quantities. The individual is expected to plan, program, and execute a series of machining operations to produce parts of acceptable quality. Work is to be performed at the lowest cost consistent with quality standards and tolerance requirements.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Evaluate parts to be manufactured for the most cost-effective application of existing CNC equipment.
  • Plan sequence of operations for parts to be manufactured.
  • Select and requisition tooling as needed.
  • Create and maintain CNC programs and related documentation so that programs are easily retrieved, setup, and run.
  • Setup one or more CNC machines and qualify programs so parts are of acceptable quality.
  • Measure parts being fabricated using scales, protractors, micrometers, calipers, indicators, or other measurement devices.
  • Monitor part quality to engineering drawings or other documentation without assistance.
    • Monitor and maintain part quality during the machining process.
    • Monitor part quality and notify designated personnel if problems persist despite attempts to correct the issue.
    • Monitor part quality and submit samples to Inspection during production runs.
  • Operate one or more CNC machines.
  • Be able to perform secondary operations from verbal instructions, without assistance, using metal working machinery such as millers, drill presses, tapping heads, belt sanders, and grinders.
  • Produce acceptable parts in a timely manner.
  • Instruct others to run one or more machines or perform secondary operations.
  • Run conventional equipment on occasion.
  • Work as a team to maximize productivity and quality.
    • Provide assistance to others.
    • Show a constant interest in learning other activities or skills.
    • Participate in job reviews when appropriate.
  • Maintain and submit accurate time records, both on drawings and in the ERP system.
  • Maintain fabrication equipment in good order and use tools and equipment as designed.
  • Clean equipment when breaking down setup.
  • Maintain an orderly work area and clean up the work area at the end of the day.
  • Be consistently at work and punctual; clock job times accurately.
  • Observe company policy, safety, and security procedures.
  • Perform all activities in conformance with the AGR Quality System and ISO procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year CNC machine experience, preferably on Machining Centers.
  • Minimum of three years machining experience.
  • Ability to utilize Manufacturing Software to create CNC programs.
  • Ability to setup and operate CNC machining centers and Proto Traks.
  • Ability to setup and operate metal working equipment including drill presses, millers, grinders, and lathes without assistance.
  • Ability to select and use appropriate measuring devices for the task being monitored.
  • Ability to monitor and maintain quality of parts during fabrication stages.
  • Ability to work with hand tools.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings or other documentation and work to verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Utilize the most efficient resources for fabricating and measuring parts being made or altered.
  • Be able to perform shop math, including trigonometry functions, so parts are made and checked to specifications.
Work Environment
  • Routinely exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Routinely exposed to metal cutting emulsions and oils.
  • Little risk of electrical shock.
  • Moderate noise level.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to use hands for a variety of tasks.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit; occasionally climb, balance, stoop, and kneel.
  • Frequently lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Good vision and eye/hand coordination.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and typical day shift hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
