Job summary

Emerson is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer for our Marshalltown, IA facility. You will develop and optimize CNC programs for mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines, translating drawings into efficient toolpaths using CAM software and designing fixtures for repeatable setups.

Minimum 3 years of CNC programming experience or a related 2-year degree is required. Proficiency with Edgecam, GibbsCam, and Siemens NX, plus strong geometry skills and the ability to read complex drawings, are essential.

Are you a skilled and motivated CNC Programming Professional looking for your next opportunity to make an impact? If so, Emerson has a great opportunity at our Marshalltown, Iowa facility. The CNC Programmer plays a key role in supporting high-precision machining operations by creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for complex components across a variety of machines. This role is responsible for translating engineering models and drawings into efficient machining processes, including selecting tools, designing fixtures, and programming toolpaths using CAM software. You will collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and tooling teams to support the launch of new products, improve existing processes, and help ensure on‑time delivery of high‑quality components. Success in this position requires a deep understanding of machining principles, toolpath strategy, and fixture design. You’ll need strong communication skills and a continuous improvement approach to support productivity goals and cost reduction initiatives. Experience with EdgeCam, GibbsCam, and Siemens NX is a plus, as is the ability to solve and resolve programming or process issues in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be

• Develop and optimize CNC programs for mills, lathes, and multi-axis CNC machines using CAM software (e.g., Edgecam, Gibbscam, Siemens NX, etc.).
• Design and/or specify fixturing and workholding solutions to ensure repeatable setups, part stability, and machining accuracy.
• Analyze quality data and assist with root cause investigations for machining-related nonconformances; implement corrective programming changes.
• Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle times, improve tool life, and reduce scrap and rework.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to ensure manufacturability and support new product introduction.
• Assist in the development of capital investment plans, supporting machine and fixture capability requirements.
• Provide mentorship to CNC operators and programmers, promoting skill development and consistency in process execution.

For This Role, You Will Need

• Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining and programming experience, or a 2-year degree in a manufacturing, machining, engineering, or industrial technology-related field.
• Experience with CAM software (e.g., Edgecam, Gibbscam, Siemens NX, etc.).
• Strong understanding of geometry and trigonometry fundamentals.
• Ability to accurately read, interpret, and apply engineering part prints and technical drawings.
• Legal Authorization to work in the United States.
