Job summary

Jobot is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer in El Cajon, CA to join our aerospace manufacturing team. This permanent, on-site role offers $37-$50 per hour and requires strong experience in 5-axis CNC programming, precision measurement, and tight tolerances to produce high-quality components.

You will develop machining strategies, read blueprints and GD&T, set up machines, verify programs, and collaborate with engineering and quality to improve manufacturability and efficiency while maintaining

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for complex components, including 5-axis machining.
• Set up CNC machines, select tooling and fixtures, and establish machining parameters.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
• Produce parts to tight tolerances with high surface finish and repeatability.
• Verify dimensions with precision measurement equipment and perform first-piece inspections.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and improve cycle times while maintaining quality and safety.
• Collaborate with machinists, engineering, production, and quality teams to improve manufacturability.
• Maintain programs, setups, tooling data, and inspection records.
• Follow safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for complex components, including 5-axis machining applications.


• Set up CNC machines, select tooling and fixtures, and establish machining parameters to achieve consistent production results.


• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.


• Produce parts to tight tolerances while maintaining high standards for accuracy, surface finish, and repeatability.


• Use precision measurement equipment, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges, to verify component dimensions.


• Perform program verification, prove-outs, and first-piece inspections to identify and resolve issues before full production.


• Troubleshoot machining problems, adjust programs and setups, and reduce cycle times without compromising quality or safety.


• Collaborate with machinists, engineering, production, and quality teams to improve manufacturability and resolve technical challenges.


• Maintain accurate programs, setup documentation, tooling information, and inspection records.


• Follow safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant CNC programming and machining experience in a manufacturing environment.


• Demonstrated experience in precision measurement, blueprint reading, CNC setup, CNC programming, tight-tolerance machining, and 5-axis machining, or equivalent capabilities.


• Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, workholding methods, feeds, speeds, and material characteristics.


• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, dimensional requirements, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).


• Proficiency with CNC programming methods and relevant CAD/CAM software.


• Hands-on ability to set up machines, validate programs, troubleshoot production issues, and deliver parts that meet specifications.


• Strong attention to detail, practical problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality and safe working practices.


• Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with cross-functional teams.
