Job Summary

The CNC/CAM Programmer role is a key member of our programming and engineering team, supporting the production of precision aerospace components. This role acts as a liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing (Operations) teams. You will focus on process development and programming of CNC equipment, including multi-axis lathes, Swiss screw machines, vertical machining centers, and grinders. The position involves both programming in a CAM environment and performing hands-on setup on the production floor.

Major Areas Of Responsibility

  1. Utilize ESPIRT CAM software to develop CNC programs (g-code) that optimize manufacturing methods for precision components.
  2. Collaborate with Engineering & Manufacturing teams to develop manufacturing processes, tooling, work-holding, in-process deburring, and metrology, documenting all in ESPIRT libraries.
  3. Leverage parametric programming, macros, and CAM software to optimize programs across similar parts.
  4. Set up and operate production equipment during initial process development.
  5. Determine optimal setup, tool paths, material removal rates, finish, and yield.
  6. Train production personnel to ensure smooth transition and reproducibility in mass production.
  7. Manage programs and machine & tool setup data within the company's PDM and DNC systems.
  8. Participate in lean events to optimize products, reduce setup and machine time, and improve productivity and quality.
  9. Stay updated with latest manufacturing technologies and make recommendations for productivity improvements.
  10. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
  2. Progressive on-the-job experience considered equivalent to a degree.
  3. At least five years of advanced manufacturing experience, preferably in precision or ultra-precision machining centers.
  4. Expert knowledge of CNC programming, including Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and Okuma controls, with advanced techniques.
  5. Frequent user of CAM software; ESPIRT preferred, but Mastercam, PartMaker, or SolidCAM are acceptable.
  6. Experience with manufacturing enterprise software like EPCIOR is a plus.
  7. Strong knowledge of work-holding, tooling systems, and CNC machine setup.

Physical Demands

Position involves activities such as lifting 10-50 lbs, standing, walking, manual manipulation, squatting, bending, and reaching, with varying activity levels as specified.
