Job summary

Rohrer Corporation in Illinois seeks an experienced CNC/Mold Shop professional to program toolpaths, review 3D CAD models and blueprints, and prepare tooling for production. The role requires mastery of Mastercam and SolidWorks, strong problem solving, and the ability to train others.

Responsibilities

• Reviews 3D CAD models and blueprints to determine job specs.
• Develops machining instructions and sequences of operations.
• Programs toolpaths using Mastercam to optimize accuracy and surface finish.
• Checks programs and runs simulations before CNC release.
• Reads and interprets blueprints; supports tooling requirements.
• Monitors tool performance and changes tooling as needed.
• Collaborates with CNC operators and Mold Shop to complete projects.
• Supports Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
• Creates 2D drawings and die lines from 3D models.
• Operates the sample press for prototype blisters.
• Supports mold sampling and tool design tasks.
• Maintains file structures for approved molds.
• Coordinates with Production Scheduler to meet tooling deadlines.

Job description

• Reviews three dimensional CAD models and blueprints to determine job specifications and machining requirements.
• Develops machining instructions, determines the proper sequence of operations, and identifies required fixturing.
• Programs toolpaths using Mastercam software to achieve dimensional accuracy, superior surface finishes, and efficient use of CNC equipment.
• Checks programs and runs simulations before releasing them to CNC operations.
• Understands machine tools and performs functions associated with computer aided manufacturing.
• Monitors cutting tool performance and changes tooling as needed.
• Works closely with CNC operators and the Mold Shop to ensure effective machining processes and see projects through completion.
• Handles multiple, complex, and diversified assignments requiring independent thinking and sound judgment.
• Creates 2D drawings and die lines from 3D parametric models for the sampling process.
• Operates the sample press to produce prototype blisters from machined molds.
• Assists with mold sampling, polishing, assembly, and other Tool Design activities as needed.
• Maintains accurate and up to date file structures for approved molds.
• Works closely with the Production Scheduler to ensure production tooling is completed on time to meet production demands.
• Identifies and, when able, corrects safety hazards.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
• Participates in Lean Manufacturing processes as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience working with CNC machines
• Knowledge working with SolidWorks
• Mechanical aptitude

• Knowledge of 3D CAD Design and design engineering.
• Skills in sketching, drawing, graphic layouts.

• Understand the functionality of production machinery within the process flow of the company.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $62,000 - $75,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. This position is also eligible for a bonus and company benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and paid holidays.
