Job description

Short Version

Riverside, Missouri

  • $24.00 - $28.00 / hour + 5% night premium
  • Full-Time

We cut the steel that becomes destroyers, aircraft carriers, and submarines. We need someone on nights to run our CNC burn table.

If you have run one before, awesome, come talk to us. If you have not, but you are good with computers, can read a drawing, and have some CAD or CNC background, we will teach you the rest. We would rather train a sharp, hard-working technical person than wait around for a unicorn.

Why You Would Want This Job
  • 5% night premium on top of base pay.
  • 4 × 10s, Mon-Thu / with opportunity for Over Time. The schedule does not rotate. You will know your days off a year in advance.
  • We actually train. 4 weeks of structured, paid on-shift training alongside our day-shift lead before you run the table solo.
  • The work is real. Intercon has been building heavy equipment in Riverside since 1960. Our ATB couplers hold ocean-going tug-and-barge units together in open water and account for half of all US fuel movement by ocean. Our propulsion equipment supports U.S. Navy detroyers, aircraft carriers and submarines. The plate you cut tonight ends up on a ship.
  • Stability. Nearly 70 years in business, approximately 125 people, and a huge backlog in marine and defense.
  • Overtime is available if you want it — and it is not mandatory if you do not.
  • Full benefits: health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with employer contribution; healthcare FSA; supplemental coverage through Aflac; and paid time off
  • 75% Boot allowance / $100 prescription safety glass allowance / no personal tools needed
What You Will Actually Be Doing

Setting up and running our CNC plasma and oxyfuel burn tables. In practice, that means:

  • Loading plate onto the table and confirming you have the right material and thickness
  • Pulling up the nest, setting your cut parameters, and running a test piece
  • Reading the drawing so you know what "right" looks like before you cut it
  • Watching the cut and adjusting on the fly — bevel, dross, speed, consumables
  • Checking finished parts against the print, then marking and staging them for the next operation
  • Daily machine checks and upkeep so the table is ready for the next shift

You will be part of a night crew of 20. You will not be by yourself in the building.

What We Need From You

Requirements

  • Comfortable working on a computer — you will be in cutting and loading nests all shift
  • Able to read shop drawings and mechanical prints, or able to pick it up quickly
  • Solid math and a real eye for detail — this is measured work, not eyeballed work
  • Read and write English (this is a safety-sensitive position)
  • Show up. Night shift only works when people are reliable.
Helpful, But Not Required
  • Time on any CNC equipment — plasma, laser, waterjet, router, mill, or lathe
  • CAD / CAM exposure: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or Fusion 360
  • Nesting software: Steel Solutions, SigmaNEST, ProNest, FastCAM, or Hypertherm ProNest
  • Welding, fabrication, or steel yard experience
  • Industrial technology, machining, welding, or drafting coursework
  • Military experience
  • Certificate in burn table or thermal cutting operations

We especially want to hear from you if you have the technical side but no burn table time. Sign shops, waterjet and laser shops, CNC routers, 3D printing, a plasma table in your garage, a drafting or machining program you just finished — that all translates, and we would rather build on it than pass on it.

Where This Goes

Burn table is a good place to land and a good place to start. People here have moved from the table into robotic welding, Cobotic welding, CNC Machining, and Engineering Tech roles. If you want to grow, tell us and we will build the path.

The Honest Part

This is a manufacturing floor. You will be on your feet for most of the shift, lifting up to 50 pounds at times, and climbing, balancing, stooping, and walking the plant and yard while carrying materials. PPE is required at all times in the plant and yard. The shop is hot in July and cold in January. If that is not for you, no hard feelings — but if it is, you will like it here.

This is a full-time, safety-sensitive position.
