Job Summary

The CNC Oxy & Plasma Machine Operator is responsible for effectively and efficiently cutting steel plate to specifications using CNC controlled machines.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Determine best utilization of plate material selected to reduce or eliminate unnecessary material consumption (nesting)
• Follows directions/specifications and produces required parts.
• Inspect parts visually as well as measure tolerances using a tape measure.
• Inspect material grade using color coding system.
• Handles routine machine maintenance and documents according to Company standards.
• Keep cutting surface in good order, including assisting in re-slating of table.
• Record production numbers as per company standard.
• Ability to help the department succeed by producing quality parts.
• May use cranes to move parts/pieces.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
  
  

Required Skills/Abilities

• Previous experience on a cutting machine (plasma, laser, oxy) preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16” increment or willingness to learn.
• Ability to distinguish colors.
• Ability to use overhead cranes.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient with CNC machinery and/or cutting tables.
• Flexibility to work overtime, sometimes on short notice.
  
  

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One (1) year of previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work five (5) days/ten (10) hours with rotating weekends. Overtime is mandatory on the assigned rotating weekend.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
• Must be able to stand/walk on hard, sometimes uneven surfaces for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.
