Job summary

Fox Factory, Inc. is seeking a CNC operator in Scotts Valley, CA to load, unload, inspect parts, and ensure quality during machining.

The role includes de-burring, polishing and cleaning parts at the machine, with emphasis on meeting production standards and reducing scrap. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years CNC experience, be able to read prints, and use calipers and micrometers to verify tolerances.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' CNC operation experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.

Job description

Position Summary

Operator will load, unload, and inspect parts during the machining process. The operator is responsible for the quality of the parts being produced and for achieving production standards. The role includes de‑burring, polishing, and cleaning parts at the machine on some work.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic math calculations, including addition and subtraction of decimals.
  • Maintain dimensional tolerances between ±0.0003”‑0.005” or greater.
  • Interpret basic dimensions on a print; read and understand tolerance block, local notes, and revision level.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, etc.
  • Load, unload, and inspect parts while maintaining published PPH.
  • Operate a minimum of one bar feed lathe or a mill along with secondary operations.
  • Maintain accurate part counts; fill out box tags and job/quantity tracker.
  • Report and seek assistance from supervisor or lead for any machining problems.
  • Follow documented operator procedures such as inspection check sheets and posted operator notes.
  • Maintain a clean work area and observe all safety procedures.
  • Execute machine offsets and insert changes with direction of supervisor or lead person.
  • Produce parts with less than 2% scrap rate on a consistent basis.
  • Operate a variety of lathes and mills, including secondary operations, with routine supervision.
  • Run multiple jobs dealing with moderately complex parts.
  • Assess tool performance and make changes when appropriate.
  • Asses job performance and determine when a job is not running efficiently; consult with supervisor or technical department for improvements.
  • Perform lower level set‑up tasks under supervision.
  • Other duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Good working knowledge of CNC functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent judgment and decision‑making capabilities.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of prior experience operating CNC machinery required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or manufacturing quality environment preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Manufacturing environment.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly; walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time.
  • Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer.

Compensation

Compensation Range: $18.31 - $24.56 per hour (specific to the location).
