Job summary

NC Dynamics LLC in the Greater Los Angeles area is seeking a CNC Operator I for the 2nd shift to support aerospace manufacturing. You will operate multiple 3-axis and 5-axis CNC centers, assist with setup, and verify tooling to maximize production while ensuring parts meet AS9100 standards.

The role requires a high school diploma, forklift certification, and CNC GCODE experience; familiarity with Fanuc and Makino Pro5/Pro6 controls is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent education required.
  • Cal OSHA forklift certification required.
  • Experience with basic CNC GCODE required.
  • Fanuc controls experience preferred.
  • Makino Pro5/Pro6 controls experience preferred.
  • CN Machining experience and aerospace quality awareness a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate multiple 3-axis and 5-axis CNC centers to produce aerospace components.
  • Assist setup of raw materials and unload finished parts to maximize production hours.
  • Verify tooling integrity and measure parts for conformance per AS9100.
  • Conduct basic geometry checks with calipers and micrometers.
  • Maintain coolant levels, filters, and chip bins; keep work center clean.
  • Log production activity in ERP and follow job travelers/routers.
  • Ensure safety and teamwork in a high-standard aerospace environment.

Job Functions:
The CNC Operator I supports any up to all aerospace structural component manufacturing production tasks noted below in a team environment daily, proactively, and when requested. Per company policy the CNC Operator I may occasionally support other items outside these descriptions when necessary to ensure company operational functions, especially production requirements, are met:

  • Supports the simultaneous operation of multiple 3 axis and 5 axis CNC machine/milling work centers by ensuring milling cycles are proceeding continuously to support aluminum, titanium, Inconel, or steel cutting
  • Assists with completion of setup of raw material and removal of finished machined product to maximize daily CNC machine/milling work center production hours
  • Utilizes internal documentation to verify production methods are adhered to, and self double checks for setup correctness are made, also ensuring quality of parts is maintained per AS9100 standards
  • Verifies cutter assembly integrity and tool life by physical review with micrometer and caliper measurements, changing out cutters when necessary
  • Performs basic completed machined part geometry verification with applicable measurement instruments to ensure production parts conform to engineering requirements
  • Performs basic edge break and deburring of parts to support subsequent machining operations or for safe handling on next operation sequence
  • Operates forklift and overhead cranes for work holding movement and placement to, and on, CNC machine/milling work center work holding
  • Keeps CNC machine/work center clean and tidy per 6S methods during idle time and reports opportunities for continuous improvement during manufacturing method production runs
  • Utilizes internal job traveler / router to ensure manufacturing methods are kept up to date by logging in usage in ERP system electronically
  • Ensures basic CNC work center function supported by maintaining coolant levels, cleaning filters, and emptying chip bins when necessary

Position Requirements

Education/ Experience / Certifications:

  • High School or equivalent educational attainment required
  • Cal OSHA forklift certification
  • Experience with basic use of CNC GCODE
  • Preferred experience with Fanuc controls
  • Preferred experience with Makino Pro5/Pro6 Controls
  • Preferred CNC technical degree attainment (NTMA, UTI)

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to utilize basic shop tools (Allen wrenches, torque wrenches, pneumatic tools, etc.
  • Ability to utilize basic computer proficiencies (Windows, MS Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • General knowledge of AS9100 Quality systems and standards ideal
  • General knowledge of counterfeit parts prevention practice ideal
  • General knowledge of ITAR compliance ideal? General knowledge of machine shop / CNC metallic manufacturing environment
  • General knowledge of use of ERP systems with planning traveler / routers
  • Must be able to conduct all tasks with high ethical standards to ensure integrity of aerospace products for military and commercial aviation is maintained
  • Strong focus on safety, including personal safety, safety of co-workers, and protection of property on the job in accordance and compliance with company practices, industry standards, and government regulations
  • Strong focus on quality with the ability and commitment to achieve total customer satisfaction in the quality of our products, services and decisions, implement systems and processes focused on excellence and continuous improvement
  • Strong focus on Team Work especially in working with more or less experienced individuals and exhibiting patience when being trained or training when applicable

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
  • The employee is frequently required to grasp, handle and feel objects, control and manage tools, and use hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25-40 pounds.
