Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. in Sylmar, CA is seeking an experienced CNC Operator to join our aerospace manufacturing team. You will set up and operate 5-axis CNC machines, interpret engineering drawings, select tools, and verify part quality to tight tolerances.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with 5-axis machining, GD&T, and CAD/CAM workflows, and can collaborate with engineers and programmers to optimize processes on the 2nd shift.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating 5-axis CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of CNC programming, tooling, and machining processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with quality inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture precision parts.
• Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
• Load, edit, and verify CNC programs as needed.
• Perform in-process and final quality inspections using measuring tools.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
• Conduct routine maintenance and ensure machines are operating efficiently.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, programmers, and team members to improve processes and outcomes.

2nd Shift: 1:45pm-10:15pm, Monday - Friday
