Overview
The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to produce precision components according to specifications. The role requires technical skill, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of machining processes and quality standards. The operator helps maintain production flow and ensures final products meet required tolerances and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Machine Operation & Setup — Operate and monitor CNC machinery (e.g., mills, lathes, drills) for production runs; adjust machine settings and tool offsets as necessary to maintain part quality; perform basic troubleshooting and escalate technical issues when needed.
- Quality & Inspection — Inspect finished parts using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges; interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to verify part specifications; ensure all parts produced meet dimensional and visual standards.
- Maintenance & Documentation — Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning to ensure optimal operation; accurately complete work orders, inspection records, and production reports; follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions immediately; communicate production status with team members and supervisors; participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance process efficiency and product quality; support other departments or production areas as needed; perform other duties to support business needs.
Qualifications
- 1+ year of CNC machine operation experience preferred
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
- Basic knowledge of machining processes and materials
- Ability to use precision measuring tools
- Good math, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
