Job summary

Snap-on Elizabethton, Tennessee is seeking CNC Operators to manufacture the best professional grade tool. Set-up and operate, in a safe manner, any and/or all machining, automation and polishing equipment within a production cell.

Responsibilities include measuring finished parts with precision instruments, mounting and aligning tools, adjusting feeds and speeds, and performing quality checks per the control plan.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or 1 to 3 years manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals and fractions.
  • Work from drawings, specifications and formulas involving limited detail.
  • Use and interpret measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates and fixtures.
  • Remove and replace dull cutting toolsMount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machine, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Listen to machine during operation in order to detect sounds as those made by dull cutting tools and adjust machines to compensateAdjust machine feeds and speed, change cutting tools or adjust machine controls when necessary.
  • Stop machine or remove finished workpieces or to change tooling according to required machining sequencesCalculate machine speed and fee ratios and the size and position of cutsCheck to ensure that workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operations.
  • Set-up and operate computer controlled machines or robots to perform one or more machine functions.
  • Confer with supervisor or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or errors.
  • Monitor machine operation and control panel displaysMaintain machines and remove/replace broken/worn toolsClean machines as needed.
  • Stack/load finished items into containersSet-up future jobs while machine is operatingAll individuals must be flexible to rotate within any ratchet body cell.Meet and also exceed required productivity levelsSupport and adhere to all 6-S and TPM requirements.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or 1 to 3 years manufacturing experience.
  • Level 4 CRC PreferredAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals and fractions.
  • Work from drawings, specifications and formulas involving limited detail.
  • Use and interpret measuring equipment.

Use precise judgment to plan and perform work; make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limit of recognized or standard methods and procedures.
