Job description

The CNC Multi-Axis Machinist will produce machined parts by setting up and operating 4 and 5-axis CNC machine tools.

This is a Mazak house. Machines you will primarily be responsible for include:

  1. Mazak Variaxis i-700 with Smooth Control
  2. Mazak Integrex i-250H-S & i-200H-S with Smooth Control

Pay : $30 - $38 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture parts with 4 and 5-axis CNC machines by using industry standard machining techniques and practices while adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Plan machining from work schedules and engineering drawings and CAD.
  • Work independently or with other Machine Shop staff to determine work holding, tool holding, and tools required for jobs.
  • Anticipate tooling and material needs, check inventory, and place orders with supervisor as needed.
  • Directly program using Mazatrol or load CAM program to CNC machines.
  • Manufacture parts using conventional machining equipment (manual machines, saws, etc.) and other CNC equipment as required.
  • Maintain and update manufacturing information as per company directive.
  • Maintain safe operations in compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements following manufacturer’s instructions and standards set forth by management. When necessary, repair machines and equipment and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Use effective oral and written communication to include proper programming, set-up sheets and suggestions for improvement.
  • Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership and personal accountability for job done.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly according to company standards.
  • Arrive on time for scheduled work, work overtime and weekends as necessary.
  • Be dependable and professional, act with integrity, work effectively with others, take initiative, and be willing to apply new knowledge and skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school machining program and / or post-secondary technical school with earned diploma, certificate, or degree in machining trade training preferred.
  • 5 years minimum experience operating 4 and 5-axis CNC machining centers and mill-turn machines. Mazak Mazatrol experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to work independently and possess strong CNC setup, operating, and machine G-coding abilities.
  • Experienced with precision measuring instruments, both digital and analog.
  • Can read and understand drawings and specifications with above average understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensioning (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of work holding, tool holding, and tooling equipment used in CNC working environment.
  • Must possess above average math skills.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to adapt to frequent change, delays or unexpected events with a positive and constructive attitude.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours due to changing work schedules and demands.
  • Must possess strong English communication skills (oral and written) as it relates to the job.
  • Must be able to produce parts to deadlines, accurate to the print and with a quality finish.
