Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking a CNC Milling Operator at the Fort Payne facility to fabricate high-precision insulation components for large power generators. You will set up and run multi-axis CNC milling machines, interpret complex drawings, and ensure first-piece to final-run accuracy.

The role requires reading blueprints, selecting tooling, and adjusting feeds and speeds while maintaining strict quality and safety standards in a 5S environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent vocational training in machining technology.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience operating CNC milling machines in a production or manufacturing environment or a two year degree in machine tool and technology is preferred.
• Proficiency in CNC machine operation, including machine setup, tooling selection, offset adjustments, and interpretation of G-code and M-code programs.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications to produce parts that meet precise requirements.
• Experience using precision measurement equipment, including micrometers, calipers, and other inspection tools, to verify quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Commitment to workplace safety, preventive equipment maintenance, OSHA compliance, and 5S methodologies that support a clean, organized, and efficient manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up program, and operate CNC milling machines to manufacture high-precision insulation components that meet customer and engineering specifications.
• Interpret technical drawings and machine requirements to select tooling, establish machine offsets, and ensure accurate production from first piece through final run.
• Monitor machining performance and make real-time adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tooling to optimize efficiency, quality, and material utilization.
• Conduct detailed inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy and ensure finished products consistently meet quality standards.
• Identify, document, and resolve quality issues by investigating non-conformances and implementing corrective actions to minimize rework and scrap.
• Support safe and reliable manufacturing operations by performing preventive maintenance, maintaining a clean 5S work environment, and adhering to all safety and environmental requirements.

To support business continuity and production demands within the Manufacturing Insulation Components unit at the Fort Payne facility, this role is responsible for operating CNC milling machinery to fabricate high-precision insulation components for large power generators. To address these operational demands, this role focuses on machine setup and operation, quality inspection and precision measurement, and routine equipment maintenance. These areas ensure the continuous, safe, and high-quality fabrication of critical generator insulation elements. Given the focus on high-precision machining, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience operating multi-axis CNC milling machines, the ability to read complex blueprints, and proficiency with precision measuring instruments.

What You Bring
